I would go to the vet and get frontline or similar for kittens if he has a flea problem.

Many of them are toxic, potentially fatal for cats and kittens. You can bathe your kitten at home, in the sink, with a good natural cat shampoo and kill almost as many fleas as a flea shampoo will, with no risk of harming the kitten.
