I've been going for 28 yrs. There is plenty to do weather you want to hike the true N. Cascades short or long hikes, check out the history of the area by stopping in Newhalem and taking a walk thru the woods there or over at the Gorge just beyond the store as you go out the back exit the road loops back out to 20. There are gardens that live in the hill behind that gorge that you can walk at night and are all lit up. I haven't been to one in a couple of years but Newhalem and Colonial usually have programs in their outdoor amphitheatres on fridays and Saturdays nights but again you will want to look closely at the website for more info. If you don't want to stop in the public areas there are plenty of pull offs along the highway just pull over and take in the scenery~
Right on Diablo, rich for boating and water play. Area is absolutely gorgeous
There are several trails to hike and explore. There is some great scenery to view whils kayaking or canoeing or boating on diablo lake. The campground is located in a nice quite spot I think you can even take horses on the trails although I'm not completely sure about it I was up there last year and I will be making a few more trips up there this year 😀
