A perfect relaxation area in North Cascade National Park. The area around Ross Lake where you will find lots of Hiking Trails, Campgrounds, viewpoints and much more.

I started at around 3:45PM and lost my way FOUR times around Ross Lake. Almost died in the cold night. Google Map’s straight trail line between the Dam and Hwy 20 is WRONG. Don’t rely on it! March 9, 2022 is a good time to hike because you would be the ONLY one in the area beside ONE staff jogging in the Ross Lake Dam resort, as long as you take extra batteries for your head lamp.i

Beautiful regardless of the weather. Bathrooms are clean, ample parking. Informative and interesting markers about the lake. Nice little stop for stretching your legs on long road trips

Diablo lake hike was perfect for springtime when other trails were closed. It was a bit too cloudy to see the peaks but the path was well maintained and the dams are impressive engineering feats! Definitely enjoyed our time in the park!

You can put in at colonial creek campground on Diablo Lake and paddle up to the base of Ross Dam. There is a truck that will portage your kayaks up over the dam onto Ross lake. $30 per kayak.
There is no reason to be afraid of Grizzly and black bears. Or the mountain lions either. You should take precautions, like making noise while hiking, but you shouldn't have anything to worry about. Don't ever approach a bear. Don't talk to it. Don't run from it. And definitely don't turn your back to it. If a bear starts to approach you, stand your ground, and speak to it in a firm voice while making yourself look as large as you can (wave your arms slowly). If you are attacked by a grizzly, lay down on your stomach and spread your legs, don't let it roll you over. If you are attacked by a black bear, fight back with all you got. (The only recorded mountain lion attacks are joggers, they won't go after a person) Don't EVER run from a apex predator, they will chase you, and they will win; a grizzly can do like 40mph, you cant. Bears can both run downhill and climb trees For bears, remember this rhyme: If it's brown, lay down. If it's black, fight back. If it's white, you're fuc**d.
There are ones that you can drive up to. You can make a reservation or first come first serve.
Is the cable lift and the large platform ride up to the boat tour still operable?
Didn't see a fire pit, BBQ pit or drinking water station, so probably carry in and out all supplies. Just saw the hike in camping spots.
Unless you reserve they are usually full I summer
If you have a smaller boat you can get a boat in up at Ross lake on the Washington side you must first launch your boat at Diablo to drive it up to the bottom end of the Damb
Yes in the camping areas. If you want camp in national forest you need to get a backcountry pass from the Ranger station.
Ross lake can get allot of weather, may I suggest Quincy
