Depends on what services are needed. This vet provides a print out estimate of cost before treatment. My experience has been that they are very fair on cost and stick to their estimate.
Veterinary hospital physicians offer roughly the same improvement in care as between people seeing their family doctor and care in a people hospital. You expect the care to be at a higher level and as such, it will cost more. We have been taking our cats to a VH (WWVH) since about 2010. I have had nine cats that lived into to double digits. Another issue is your pet can't communicate like a human. This means vets in VH generally have more experience with more serious issues because they see them more often. Generally, about 75% of the time our cats only see the vet once a year. If they are kept healthy, they are less likely to deteriorate quickly. Of course, when the cats approach the middle of double-digit ages, this is when we actively become more vigilant. Currently, my daughter and I each have a cat. Right now, each cat gets their annual workup once a year. This runs approximately $150/year.
Depends on your view of expensive. Personally, I don't think so.
