I cut back the foliage right after I deadheaded the tulips this season, by mistake. Is there any way to save the bulbs for next year? Should I leave them in the pots or pull them out? Do they even stand a chance?

My tulips, in one bed only, have rotting buds, twisted, dry wilted, sometimes mushy stems, foliage and deformed flowers. No holes, slugs or other pest seen. Virus , fungus, or supplement deficiency? Any ideas?
