That's crazy I have to do the same thing right now my dog is 13 years old and I believe I'm going to go to the Oregon Humane Society if you are on food stamps or welfare there is a cheaper way to do it I believe for people who don't have money that's what I'm going to do good luck it's taking me months and months to get to this decision it's really hard I don't still know how I'm able to go through it
Cost me 200 at the vet on 122nd and stark after she got hit and tried saving her.. no emergency fee in my case, we got her ashes back in a beautiful wood case along with s plaster paw print.. then the lovely staff all signed and sent a nice card.. amazing people helped during s absolutely terrible time and situation.
$300 to$500 depending on the Ver.
Wow, that experience sounds awful. When my cat was at her last days with cancer I was VERY broke. I did some research and discovered that Dove Lewis offered free euthanasia services for people in need. I didn’t ask about cremation because I was ok to bury her. But the way I was treated from the moment they recognized my grief upon coming in the door and ushering me from the noisy, dog filled waiting area to a quiet, private room with a comfy couch and a vet tech that gently explained everything was so compassionate. I held her in my arms as she was injected and yes, I cried but it’s a normal part of life with pets. Vet techs are generally really used to it, probably numb tho they didn’t let on to me. After a moment alone to say goodbye, I waited in a private area outside for them to prepare her remains. They handed me a sturdy cardboard casket with handle, which I buried in my yard. I feel so grateful for the consideration I experienced at Dove Lewis.
I just put my cat down at OHS. The fee for euthanasia is $40-$100 depending on the size...If you want cremation, that is another $100. BE WARNED: THEY WILL NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, ALLOW YOU TO BE WITH YOUR PET, WHEN THEY PUT THEM DOWN...Meaning, your cat, or dog is going to desperately want their human, at the last moments of their lives, and you cant be there, because, "It stresses the vet tecs out, because owners are so emotional about their pets." I was actually told this, verbatim. My cat was riddled with cancer. He didnt know his humans anymore. I agreed to the euthanasia, because I knew how sick he was. I waited too long to euthanize him, and he no longer had his facilities. OHS, I know you have compassion for all animals, But it really goes against your mission, when you separate an animal from the owner, at the last moments of their lives. Think about the overwhelmed animal, and their bewilderment that their human is not there. Set up time limits if you have to
260 in Cottage Grove. I can see that it is a hard decision. I'm just going to mention that you need to ask " What day will the mortuary pick up? " In this area they only pick up once a week so I scheduled on afternoon before or my bestie could have sat in the freezer for a week! Also extra charge if you want ashes back.
Call dove lewis downt own portland.
OHS will put down animal(cat) for about $40-$60 if low income
