This is a great Job Corps. The only bad thing that I can think of is being really under staffed. BUT with the staff we do have here, makes living on center while covid is still going on more fun because they are trying their hardest to keep us entertained and have fun especially right now in summer. We as a center have a ZERO TOLERANCE for bullying and harassment against anyone from the color of our skin to our preference. ALL of the staff is really supportive of us they cheer us on and encourage us to be our best selves. I one thousand percent recommend this place it has helped me in a lot of ways

I was a student here who was wrongfully termed. The reason I was termed from the program was due to false accusations that I abused my roommates, I never once abused anyone. The only ever contact I had with my roommates was wrestling which I was entirely honest about. I accidentally hurt my roommate once by putting my knee on his ribs when I meant to place it on the ground, I imminently got up and asked if he was okay, which he said he was. I told the center director, the acting SPO and anyone else who asked me about it everything that happened, I was even on the phone with my fiancees mother when him and i were wrestling and she told Tyna everything as well. This center does not really care for it's students(only a small handful of employees and staff there actually care about the well being of the students.) I will admit that the few people who worked for JC that actual cared for us students are amazing and went out of their way to support us. on my final night at JC while waiting to be picked up I was able to say goodbye to my favorite people there, and one person stayed with me in the freezing cold of December(they wouldn't let me sit inside for the hour i had to wait) until they were almost blue.

I'd say overall it was a decent program, I achieved what I set out to accomplish. I would however STRONGLY RECOMMEND people find a job corps center that is close to a populated area and not somewhere out in the middle of nowhere. I will also say that the instructors, and residential advisors, and food services staff, and recreational staff, care about their impact on the students, and those are the ONLY individuals who do care, even if it is all just a ploy, a cheap facade to endure while the grinding machine of capitalism goes on. TAKE HEART AND KNOW THAT LITERALLY ANYWHERE ELSE IN THE UNITED STATES, EVEN FLORIDA, would be a better place to reside. So in summary, if you wish to pursue job corps, DON'T LET THEM SEND YOU HERE, beg, pay off, bribe, do whatever you can do, TO NOT COME HERE.

I attended SJCC from February 2009 until October 2010... I had a wonderful experience there. Even though there is a lot of dramam between students, because we come from diverse backgrounds and home training, as well as hard family lives and etc, it was all worth it. I learned tollerance, respect, how to get along with those I didn't particularily care for, that what someone seems like may not be how they really are, and how to make friends and handle enemies. I learned the importance of listening, rather than speaking. I learned how to be prepared for my work day and how my tardiness can affect more than myself. I learned bedside manner, work ethic in general, how to keep a smile in the feild, and felt completely ready and educated before I took my CNA test. I think I had a wonderful Instructor, Bruce Brown. Also, I had a wonderful Career guidance Counselor and help through NE Works after I graduated. I felt fully ready to be in the real world, and prepared for the jobs I was offered. My internship during my attendance at SJCC was awesome and truly prepared me for more than i needed, so I felt confident when I accepted my first job in the Medical Feild. I honestly wouldn't have progressed as well as I did without attending that school. And the food is really 100 times better than High School Cafeteria or Jail food, as opposed to what some people may tell you. My best advice, go in without expectations, except to learn a trade, stay focussed, and Job corps will benefit you tremendously!!!
