A fantastic park with a few caveats: the current is STRONG, so you've got to pay attention, and if you walk up to where you can stand in the river, you'll be sitting in the shade. Parking has always worked out for us, though it is tougher when Sugarpine is open.

Came here for a private celebration on a very hot day! Our party used the community building. It was a nice size with clean bathrooms and a nice size kitchen. I believe it accommodated a group of about 100 people. Fyi: the building does not have AC. It was Very hot in the building for an evening (5-8pm) event. I did notice a super cool bbq outside that is made with bricks and looks like you could cook for a large gathering with it. There is a parking lot that shares with parking for river access and a small restaurant. On this particularly hot Friday evening the parking lot was full! There is handicap parking and some paved smooth paths. You can get to the bathrooms and playground by level paved paths. Lots of picnic tables and grassy areas very nicely shaded. The playground was not huge, but had slides and swings. It was right next to a basket ball hoop. I did not go down any paths to the river this visit, but it looked like they were a bit rougher and sloped. Safety note: Since it is close to a drop off that leads to a river you do have to keep a close eye on kids. The park itself felt very safe. It was clean and we'll maintained.

Not quite a hidden gem, but not as slammed as other spots along the Sandy on a hot PNW day. Convenient to food, bathrooms and cool, clear river water. Lifeguards are a nice addition. Close to historic highway but, for the most part, quiet and peaceful.

We were there for a celebration of life for my best friend's wife. The facility was clean & perfect size for the event. There were plenty of tables & chairs. The AV facility's were good, and there was a kitchen area. The bathrooms were actually better than I'd expected. The park-like setting around the building was great. 👌 Free parking, and plenty of it, was great, given the situation. Overall, I'd give the venue a 10/10. I cannot speak to the cost, as I was not involved in that aspect, but with the nature trails and the river so close, it would be a great spot for a wedding reception, huge family reunion, club function, etc.

There isn't a accessible river access but the park has smoothly paved paths and the building is accessible
DO NOT TRY TO JUMP!! UNSAFE AS ROCKS & LOGS SHIFT & VERY STRONG CURRENT IN COLD WATER. ILLEGAL ALSO.
I haven't seen anyone BBQ there but often bring take out to picnic. There are 2 picnic tables next to the playground but no BBQ's to use.
Yes, they have benches, tables, normal "park style" BBQs, and 2 enormous "party style" BBQs! It really is a beautiful park!
Yes you can
Yes, a very nice trip. We often floated on inner tubes between Oxbow and Glenn Otto Park as kids and loved it. The water will be very cold still in June.
Glenn Otto park doesn't have paddle boats nor canoe rentals; but i know there are quite a few parks in the area that may. Blue lake park being one of them.
Fishing license in hand?!... Then your good to go It does get busy here. Do be careful the river is running about the 12 feet higher than normal this year.... So watch for drop-offs.... Also debris in the river will snag your gear more...just be patient.... 😀
