I am a small business owner and pay my staff above minimum wage. We believe that providing exceptional customer service and staff education comes at a cost to our business. You, as a company, are solely responsible for paying staff a living wage. Your margins should be able to cover these minor increases in wages.

Thank you for asking, Donna! The surcharge is rooted in our effort to be transparent with our customers about the additional investment that is required for our business to support the living wage movement and continually increase our employee wages with this goal in mind. The 2.5% surcharge covers only a portion of the wage increases we have started, but we believe our customers also see the value is ensuring our workers are paid a competitive wage. All monies collected from this surcharge are applied directly to payroll expenses.
