It gets so busy that "walking in" to a seat is very difficult. You'll most likely need to leave your name with the host 15-30 minutes in advance.
It's only walk-in, no reservations. And think they close at 10pm, so I'd say 9, 9:15pm at the latest so your not rushed.
You can call ahead and get an estimate of the wait. My experience is that on a Monday or Tuesday you can stroll in and get a seat immediately, but still 930 at the latest. Weekends, well...
Tue place is super busy and they Don't take reservations. On weekend nights I'd plan on at least an hour wait to get a seat. They will take your name and number and call you when something is about to open up. There are many bars near by including their sister place called Barnacle.
