It closes at 5 but if you get late coming backthere's a one-way exit that has the tire spikes you can get out but no one can come in
The parking lot will lock at sunset. You may no longer enter but if you are still inside the preserve/parking lot, the exit gate will remain open for a little while longer to allow those that may have not made it in time. To leave. But i wouldn't take the chance :) this is regarding the main parking lot on the visitor center side. There is another parking lot for the wildlife viewing area that closes at sunset. Also we have parked on the shoulder right off the road as well whenever the gates are locked. There's not too much traffic at all maybe 1 to 2 car every 10 mins. That will drive through.
