You could spend an hour or two if you took your time. This aquarium does have some hands on that the big aquariums don't. If you do other things in town like Sci Port it will take all day. Sci Port is a 1/4 mile away from the aquarium.
Hannah, I just visited yesterday.I had a great time with 7 yo grandson and 13yo son and my wife. Shark viewing tunnel with 4 species of Shark. Get to pet rays, starfish, moon jellys AND get a mancure from a familiar friend. Jacque from Nemo and his Entourage. It is so cool.
As Dwayne said, this is a smaller aquarium but it does have a lot of hand on exhibits. if you combine it with the trip to SCI Port it'll be a great day.
It's good experience there. Lot of hands on.
Hannah, I agree with Dwyane. I liked the hands on that the bigger aquariums don't have and I recommend you look at the sciport discovery center's website to see which IMAX films are showing because the dome theatre is a must, especially since you're driving 3 hours.
We always do several things when we go to Shreveport aquarium, sci port,duck pond,museum, zoo,there is a petting zoo,and park in greenwood

I dont know if I would drive three hours only for this, but it is actually a great aquarium. Surprisingly good for Shreveport. Just check the pictures out. At least if you come and finish sooner than planned it's just across the river from the boardwalk. It took two of us almost 2 hours to go through the whole thing and take our time. There are even a few hands-on exhibits. It's definitely worth a visit.
