I want to cancel my membership I moved away from the one I attended. Why do I have to send a certified letter to cancel or visit in person? What’s wrong with calling and canceling?

If you're cynical, you could presume that it's just to make it hard to leave. Still, if just anyone could call in, claiming to be you, and cancel your membership without your consent or knowledge, that would seem pretty lax and unprofessional. Since it involves (your) money, as well as a legal obligation of yours, they definitely Should be required to be sure it's you before they go changing your legal or financial obligations. ...my thoughts anyway.
