The inner space cavern has a long staircase that descends into the cave system, a few short ramps, then the rest is largely flattened walking path. Some dampness makes it a little slippery, but there are no dangerous precipaces or unguarded holes that would make an accidental slip into a concern. As long as the child doesn't run off on their own it's very safe. Relatedly, I would recommend only taking children that aren't prone to yelling, as caves often echo and amplify noise to very loud levels.
