We just went last weekend and the animals were not very active. But we didn't get there until 2. Maybe going earlier would help. We have been to a lot of Safaris and this is much more of an observation safari than a feed and pet type. It is beautiful though.
They don't mind the cold (within reason) and will come out to eat or stand/lay in the sun. When it's hot in the summer, you won't see as many because they are laying low in the shade trying to stay cool. The best time to go is in the morning when the temperatures are on the cool side and they are full of energy and ready for breakfast.
