Yes there are your buses to take you there. You should check with the concierge at your hotel. I believe it was in conjunction with a visit to two other plantations an all day trip. However freedom of time would be great by renting your own car. So the choice is yours.

There are bus tours that leave (ostensibly) from Decatur street and can drop you off back along Canal street
