I am planning on visiting Yosemite in April. Can you tell me if you would recommend staying in Groveland, Mariposa, Wawona or Oakhurst? We would like to be as close to the valley floor as possible, but are ok with driving.

Catheys valley or mariposa is your best bet

Agreed with Joe. We stayed in Oakhurst this holiday, even with snow slowing things down, the South entrance was delightful. You won't miss out on any views ... it's spectacular.

I prefer the South entrance as it is less crowded to get in but then you have a much further drive to get into the valley. If you want less love but take more time sucking user the South entrance. The North entrance is more direct but it will be crowded.
