Late September for higher elevations. Early October for lower. Mid October for southern new hampshire. Every year it is close to this, but may vary a bit due to weather.

Go before Columbus Day Weekend. That weekend is also the Canadian Thanksgiving so the traffic that weekend is heavy with lots of delays. Higher elevations and northern areas peak first by late Septmber and the color moves south during October.

Mid to Later in October. Depends on how rainy the spring and summer were. The drier the summer the less the color.
The higher elevations and further north start to change in about the 3rd week in September. The southern and lower elevations finish around Columbus Day
