The North Country Trail runs through and there are a couple of backwoods sites, buy they are reserve only. Check out French Farm Lake or Wycamp Lake. They are rustic sites with no facilities, so you will need a water filter or bring enough water. You can drive into both sites too. Both sites i mention are within 10 miles of wilderness campground.
