In any part of California you might encounter a mountain lion. If you ever do, you HAVE to fight back. It will kill you if you run or hide, but you have a chance to show it that you are a predator, too, not prey, by making as much noise and fight as you can, grab anything that you can use as a shield or weapon. SAME survival tactic if you encounter a bear.
