Yes they only last for about 28 days. Some years are worse than others. Bug spray does not work and they leave nasty hurting bites.
Had green heads 3 weeks ago. Did not have spray but they were not overwhelming.

Just returned from there and had no problems with any insects.
We were there the last week in July and there were no flies. Skin so soft works well if you go when there are flies. The first or second week in August is usually when they are around. And they are mean!! Wait til end of the month to go
