No you buy tickets and ferry across to the caves.
My first time to the caverns was recent. According to the staff when I called the boat ride has always been and is the normal transportation. You buy tickets on one side of the lake and then ferry over to the other side to hop on the bus.
Regardless what you remember, or what you've done before, you more have to take a ferry to get there now. Enjoy!
We opened after the lake was constructed and have always utilized the boats. The location of the caves is on a large peninsula between the Squaw Creek and McCloud Arms. The closest road is Gilman road which is not connected and about 10 miles to the north. When we first opened, our ticket counter and main gift store was at the visitor center next to the caverns. Now the main gift store is on the West side of the lake making it an easier point to access and a more ideal spot for our guests.
Correct, you buy your tickets then a ferry takes you across to the island, then you take a small bus THE ONLY bus in the island to the cave s
Its still the same routine
