It's Awesome! The Largest Living and Tallest Sand Dune on The Eastern Seaboard! Plus, it's The Outer Banks, The Best Surf on The East Coast, and beautiful scenery. One of the many gems making The Great State of North Carolina one of our National Treasures! But it's a Living Dune, so it's Dynamic. The Elements change the layout, so it will differ each visit. Plus, you get to run and jump off big-arse dunes! What's not to Love? And that whole Wright Brothers Thingy, a wee bit North. The Historical Dare County, The Lost Colony, to Ft. Fisher at the opposite end of the OBX! I could go on, as plainly visible, I'm rather proud of my Beloved Great North State. Please, take time and visit! You're Always Welcome! {Just don't leave Trash on the Beach, don't feed seagulls, and if a Barney: Wait your turn in the Line-Up! Surfers do not take the aforementioned actions lightly!} Cheers The height blocks on-shore winds blowing, creating funnels & focusing the current of clean:dirty air
It is what they call a living sand dune. Not to mention the hand gliding you can participate in.
The buried building under it.
The pine forest, Nags Head Woods, that the high dunes allow for behind them are unique to the world (only a few other places in the world have a similar environment) something about the high dunes blocking the salty ocean air... Also it's just like a place out of place... looking up the dunes from the north to south seeing nothing but a stretch of sand... you feel like you could easily be in Arabia or the Sahara Worth a visit for sure (especially since it's free)
Jockeys Ridge is a wonderful place to walk with others or by yourself, there are several locations that allow you to see the soundside and/or ocean. I would also suggest making a trip to Wright Brothers monument while you're visiting the OBX.
it's a park sorta like mt trashmore but with sand.
Highest sand dune on the eastcoast
Beautiful Beaches!
Its a nature preserve of a large dune, showing what the outer banks used to look like. Mostly its just a fun place to walk around and a good place to fly a kite!
