I'm always just in and out of this rest area. Very nice place and I see trucks here overnight so don't think you would be harassed.
I slept here for 5 nights in a row in my car a couple summers ago when I was going thru a housing transition and couldn't afford a motel. Never had a problem. Even tho the law here is 12 hours per day, I think they really don't care as long as you aren't being a bother to anyone or making it look obvious. I'd usually just leave for a few hours to get lunch, buy supplies and run errands, then park on the opposite side when I returned near the evening. I always returned and settled in before sundown because at night it gets very dark and difficult to navigate. As others stated, it's a very beautiful rest area during the day and safe to sleep overnight. Police do patrol the area.
The rules just say you can't stay more than 12 hours in any 24-hour period. https://www.tripcheck.com/Pages/Rest-Areas-Regulations
You can’t fish freshwater fish in Oregon if it’s more than 1 hour after sunset, and OSP Troopers go thru there often. Go to the coast and fish the bay at night and crab...
I don't know. I have only been there in the daytime. Such a beautiful place!
Rest area is open from sunrise to sundown but... it's not a business so the legality of the 24-36 hours thing is very blurred at this location. I'm known to sleep here sometimes and NEVER has been traumatized at this location by anybody.
