Firstly, you can use the gazebos for free, by paying you are guaranteeing nobody else can use the gazebo for the day. In other words, you are paying $200 so that all of us other taxpayers CAN'T use the gazebo. Secondly, the networks are funded by a millage, not the state parks budget. You pay 21 cents per thousand dollars your home is worth. The average home costs in our area are around $200,000, so on average, you pay $42 per year for clinton Huron metroparks maintenance. Plus $35 for an annual pass (which is only required if drive into the park). That gets you access to 13 metroparks. 25,000 acres of hiking, biking, boating, baseball, soccer, basketball, football, fishing, swimming, 10 nature centers, 3 mobile community education centers, and literally hundreds of free events every year including concerts, movies, dog adoptions and more. We should all be appreciative of the great privilege we have to have such a fantastic local parks service.
Thank you Matt. I appreciate your timely answers and I'm sure others had the same questions. I know how the parks are funded and was just wondering about the process of rental. You cleared it well sir👏👏👏
Honestly we just went there and I didn't even see a gazebo theres just chairs by the pool and benches by the lake.
Metro parks do not fall under the state park system. They are not state funded
