Do you have to pay for a day pass or anything to walk the trails and such? Me and my buddies are just wanting to go for the day, no camping or anything. I just remember having to go through the gate at the front if you dont have a parking ticket.

Yes, there is an entrance fee. There may be parking on the highway, so you can walk in, but I can't remember for this park. If you can afford it, go ahead and pay the entrance fee (probably less than $10)--it helps to support the park.

The fee is for parking, not entering. However, it's a big park and it would be useful to have your car to explore all of it and exchange some walking time for time on the amazing trails. 10 bucks highly worth coming to what is likely California's best state park.

There is an area to park just outside the entrance. You can walk in from there with no fee. If you elect to drive in it will cost $8.00 for the day.

u can park outside of gate along roadway , outside park tho,and walk in , see alot of people doing so ... but remember it is a state park , proceeds go to keeping this treasure open and maintained so all can enjoy .. if u going with friends have everyone chip in , its not a huge fee.. ive walked in and ive also paid so no judgement here ..awesome park either way ,enjoy
