It's certainly possible but I wouldn't dilly-dally on making reservations...l'd make them today.
You have to go to Reserve California and make the reservations you can reserve up to 6months in advance if you have any questions about how to do so just contact the state park you plan to visit and they will be happy to assist you and guide you where and how to go about it. Also keep in mind majority of the CA parks usually fill up quick so do make your reservations as soon as possible
