No you don't have to rent one but if you don't you won't get one unless you sit there and hold it and you don't need advanced notice for more than 2 days,not weeks. Also all them are first come first served unless you rent it out. It's worth it to rent it out rather than trying to get lucky and find one. Good luck.
most of them are first come first serve with the exception of 2 or 3 that must be rented with i believe a week or 2 advanced notice...hope this helps
