My family has gone to this park several times and we really enjoy it! If you are coming in off the 40, there are two parts to the park. There is the metro park where the buffalo, nature center, and some trails are, and there is a second entrance for Darby Creek Park that has playgrounds, trails, volleyball, pavilions, and other uncovered places to grill. Both are great and well maintained. However, just went there today (7/25/22) and they are tearing down and rebuilding the two larger playgrounds. They have another smaller one designed for 2-5 year olds. Well maintained facilities with some gravel trails that are less intense. Darby creek park has a very easy trail that may be less than .25 miles to an overlook with a decent view of the river and forest. Off to the side of the overlook there is a small trail that opens up a little bigger to a little more difficult hike with a couple steep hills. You can also check out the ranger station for more info and maps.

All of Battelle parks are great. Wild life along the trails and don't forget the fishing.

This park is spectacular, there's so much to do here. There's a volleyball court a big wide space were you can play football, soccer, freesby, a basketball court and two areas were the kids can play. The trails are awesome, one trail takes you to the nature center were you can see the Bison run free in their habitat. It's a must to visit this park.

Its such a beautiful park been going to this park since I was little kid an still love it to this day. I love going on the old trails that were taken out and you are really not suppose to use but it brings back good memories being on those old trails

The bison are fed on Fridays, usually. There is handicap parking right next to pathway to The Nature Center....which The entrance, by the way, is the next gate past the park entrance gate (about a quarter mile)... same side of the road. The pathway leads to the Nature Center (which deserves a look see, too), and the fencing and field is just beyond where they are feeding during the winter months. Our granddaughter and I went for a workshop, looked out the center windows and thought we saw big boulders, watching awhile we saw those boulders move, then stand... thrilling. Seven females, one male at this time.warmer months the bison are moved up closer to the main road, but triple fenced
It's currently still closed . They plan on reopening in the summer. Their website has updates.
Yes, but covid limited involvement for normal or routine volunteers.
I like to know
I think only in certain areas, when in season
Not in the park but there are multiple areas to hunt around the park
There is a good Frisbee course at the metro on 104.
I go out 62 to alkire rd turn right go all the way to darcy rd. If you go right on darb you go to the main park. If you go staiat it takes you to more trails and launch area. If you turn left you find more trails. The park is hugh and really spead out.
You can call the management and book the shelter for a small amount per hour charge. I think it's $10/hour but it keeps changing based on demand, season, event duration, etc.
No they have a gate but some spots you can park near the gate and walk to the creek
Some say Bigfoot roams there
You can see reservable areas and make reservations on the parks' website, metroparks.net.
No motorized vehicles are allowed on the trails. Several trails are open to bicycles.
No. The park rangers patrol pretty regularly as well
Yes several
No you don't have to rent one but if you don't you won't get one unless you sit there and hold it and you don't need advanced notice for more than 2 days, not weeks. Also all them are first come first served unless you rent it out. It's worth it to rent it out rather than trying to get lucky and find one. Good luck.
The have the metal ones around. Know if they're in all locations but I think they are. There are multiple entrances. I would just take some tin foil or something to put it on the grill if that's what you are looking for.
"Persons shall utilize any Park in such a way as to not injure, deface, destroy, or remove any tree, flower, shrub, or other vegetation, or fruit or seed thereof,..." in other words do not.
There are signs on the trails informing about wildlife in the park. Barred owls are listed.
Hard to say. Generally late May to mid June. No births as of yesterday.
8399 Alkire Rd, Galloway, Oh, 43119 Parking is available at the hill.
