In October Our destination was Bryce Canyon, & we had to travel through ZNP & was charged a fee to just drive from point A to point B I was a bit aggravated by this fee... BUT by the time we got to point B it was WELL worth every penny they charged. Destination ZNP 2018 Being from Oklahoma I found that it's very easy to forget that the United States IS such a tourist destination & so much of it to see & take in.
Zion NP is probably the most crowded red rock (sandstone)) park in the southwest. Carved by the Virgin River, it has beautiful massive walls of rock that tower over the valley. Some people come to play on the sandy beaches of the Virgin River, others slosh up river into its box canyon called the Narrows. Many choose more strenuous hikes that climb upwards to vistas that give awesome views of the valley below. Others look for geologic features like the Bee Hive that demonstrate the power of mother nature. And some just like to stay at a rustic lodge that allows you to sit on a great lawn and watch it all go by.
Serene and peaceful. It was not a crowded park. There are many beautiful rock formations, trails, river, lodge and restaurant.
We came for the hikes and wildlife. Angel's Landing is one of the top hikes in any NP in the US. Observation Point was more stunning in my opinion, but less 'thrilling' of a hike.
Lots of red rock and sandstone. The highway drives through a tunnel.
Amazing, breathtaking views! Tons of Wildlife. The entire Drive is scenic with lots of Lookouts or Vistas. And a very long tunnel through a mountain that is unreal!

I'll be up there on December 3rd, what will the weather be like and does it cost to enter?
