Hi, Carolyn, the park is less crowded during the week, Monday - Thursday. There are special events that are included with general park admission (i.e. Cool Summer Nights, SpongeBob SquarePants, K-9s in Flight) so you might want to check the dates for those. Also, on Saturday nights in July, the park stays open late, until 9 pm and this is the perfect time to take advantage of "arrive after 3 pm and the next day is free" option.
During the week Monday through Thursday usually not to crowded and get there early and you can to the daniel boone inn in boone nc for a great dinner
I've been on weekends and weekdays. I would definitely aim towards the beginning of the week (Monday through Wednesday). The park really doesn't start to fill up until around noon. Until then there are hardly any lines for any of the attractions.

We where there on a Friday when Thomas was there and it was an awesome time. My grandchildren loved it. So I would say anytime at Tweetsie is a great time

We went on Tuesday. It was great!
Of course the weekends are more crowded than weekdays. However,the park is so big crowds are not really an issue. We have been on both the weekday and weekend and both were fine. The only time it was a little annoying was during the week when school was in and there were alot of kids there on a field trip.
