It all depends if you're willing to spend the money. They have bus tours which take about 40 min from one end of the canyon to the other. There are 8 stops along the way. You can get off and hike, which again takes time. You need almost entire day day to do the hikes and to see all the amazing things. On the other hand, if you're just driving through, then it is a spectacular drive. But spending 30 dollars for only 3 hours; I'm not sure if its worth it if you're not going to do any hikes. It is worth seeing thought. Hope this helps
If you're never going to do the hikes, I think it is still worth it to do a scenic tour. If you will hike eventually, I would wait. The shuttle and scenic tours are all from the canyon floor. If by spectacular you mean a high view point, you can't get that in the canyon without hiking at least a mile. The best bang for the buck is Canyon Overlook. It's 1 mile round trip and rated moderate. Not as high and an easier walk is Weeping Rock 0.4miles. i would do one of these with the shuttle tour. For driving only, Lava Point Overlook is another option but you're not going to see the red canyon walls. I have picture of each on my review of Zion. The pic with the trees is Lava Point. The big rock at sunset is Caynon Overlook. You can't do both in 3 hours though. The pic with a yellow tree and water is the end of the shuttle run. All are worth it. Keep in mind the timing of the shuttles and sometimes there are lines so you may have to wait.
Sure the senery is worth the drive. There iz alot of wildlife to see also.
I would say it's worth it, there are some great short hikesand the views are beautiful
If Zion is not your only National Park, get the annual pass (80$), then Zion is "included" and three hours are well spent there. Take the free shuttle to (40 Minutes per Direction) to the last stop, listen to the narration and enjoy. Then I'd walk towards the Narrows till the trail ends in the river.
Get on the shuttle all the way, get off at Weeping Rock, take the short hike, suck in the scenery, get back on the shuttle to the entrance. You'll be back...
No, you need two days

Due to the Government shutdown is Zion included as being some of the national parks that are closed?
