The Great Wolf Lodge is expensive but if you add the cost of a water park and a hotel it's about the same. The Great Wolf Lodge also has a wonderful staff and they are very strict with their employees. For example the housekeepers are only allowed to bring clear plastic bags with them and if they get caught with anything from the rooms its immediate termination.
My family had a great time but we brought snacks and ate all our meals out in town. Most of the bad experiences I have heard is related to food expense so we chose to eat elsewhere.
They are a little pricey but we loved seeing the kids have a blast at the water park. You do not have to eat there you can leave the area to have dinner out in town if you choose. Go with what you are comfortable with. It is a fun family experience that the kids will remember.
We bring our own food to save money. However the pizza is a good and affordable option. We have eaten in the buffet with no I'll effects.
