I have driven to the park twice this week and the gate was closed even though the sign says that it is open until 5:00 p m. It was just after lunch time, both trips. What's the deal?

From Nov. to March, the forest is only open Mon. to Thurs. from 9 to 5. The first is closed on the weekends. However, it will be open on the weekends through the summer.

I had the same problem. I clicked directions from the web page and followed them. If that's not where you go in, then where is the right place? An hour long drive... very frustrating!

Not sure which gate you are speaking about. The gate to the ranger tower is always closed to the public.
