What is the massive stone structure in the pictures?? My 1st thought was a bridge, but it doesn't exactly look like that either. How old is it I wonder? I never knew that trail was there. I went 2 the Spencer Grade School behind the pool in the 70s.

Not sure of its age, but that is the old (no longer functional) dam that fed water to the Spencer Ice Plant long ago. The dam is really easy to find if you start from the bottom of the trail and keep to the path going straight back. The ice plant has been restored and is used as office space/storage for a guy who has a hobby of restoring old buildings and homes. He keeps old lumber and building supplies there.
