Because they used to show second run movies (i.e. after the movie had left other theaters), and are now showing first run movies (i.e. new movies).
It's an amazing price for first run movies. We would spend at least $60 for 2 adults and 2 children to go - at a base price (no 3D or IMAX)...we've switched to this because we can actually go out now. Plus I've only paid $4.50 at most???
And they have to pay for their recliner seats now, too.
They also have a Tuesday special for $4, if the new price is overwhelming.

They renovated the theater and they also get the new releases first. My thoughts.
