Hiking would require a full day. There are tours and many hikes. Driving thru and looking at all the stops is a minimum of 2 to 3 hours.
When we went to Mesa Verde last week and arrived mid-afternoon, the Ranger said with dismay "This is a three day National Park" and he was absolutely correct.
When you check in they give you a news paper. On the back it gives suggested times from 2 hours to over night. We did the 1 hour cliff palace tour and highly recommend it.
To see everything at Mesa Verde, spend a night in the park. Make sure to go through the museum.
It depends on if all the tours are full or not if they're not full can spend 5 or 6 hours there if they are full you'll have to get your tickets and maybe stay for a couple of days depending on when your chores are
We just drove through and we spent 5 hours...
I suppose that would depend on the length of the trail you want to do they have several that are shorter maybe two miles round-trip and they have some that several more miles. If you're just going for the day I would suggest looking on their website I'm picking which Trail you want to see
