The road is not as bad as it looks on the map. It was actually way better than I expected. Nice drive.
It's not dangerous at all, just slow and windy but beautiful!
I have never thought of it as dangerous but I do not think there is another road for trail going up to the top. The best salute to go on in my opinion is The Cliff Palace Loop. It is a bit steep in places but it is very interesting and beautiful.
Would Not hv wanted to take the bus, or I would've surely gotten sick. The road IS NOT DANGEROUS!!! As others reported, it's a slow, winding, but beautiful drive to the top. There are Many places to pull over for views, and even a cafe up above... However we did not stop there. Well worth your time to visit.
We went on a 65' tour bus. I am sure you can make it in a car.
