You can stay in the park at Farview Lodge, which is a great place to stay, and isn't too bad at around $150/night. It's so nice being in the park. The drive from Cortez or Durango isn't bad, but already being 15-ish miles into the park is great. Everything is so close. If you're looking for something less expensive, Cortez has a good variety of budget hotels as does Durango. Just make sure to eat at El Burro Pancho (Gustavo's) or La Casita de Cortez in Cortez. The two best Mexican food places in all of Colorado. So much yum!
Cortez is the best bet, plus it has several restaurants and Wal-Mart for everything you need. About 30 minutes away
Mancos CO has about 4 little motels. 7 mi East of gate on 160.
Nearby is Holiday Inn Express, Hampton Inn, Best Western, Travel Lodge and a few others in the area. I hope this is helpful to you. Take a look a camera.
There are no hotels in the park as far as I know, but as many others have mentioned Durango is a good place to stay and a cool place in its own right.
We stayed in Durango
We stayed in Durango. Easy day trip.
Many motels in Cortez Co. 30 min. drive.
We stayed a little further north in Dolores at the Circle K Ranch and rode horses. Its an additional half hour but it made our trip even more memorable.
Durango is also an easy drive.
