I couldn't say anything negative about Hooper, only very very positive things. The staff, nurses and attention they give, is above and beyond. It's the people at Hooper that make the beginning of recovery possible. I can't say enough. Oh, and the food is really good too. The space is safe and very clean. Thank you all, truly. I've been through this many times and always feel nervous going in, but here I felt cared for and comfortable immediately. If you're struggling and need detox go to Hooper!

They were the ONLY place to help me get my brother immediate help with opiod detox. They were so very nice and helpful. True life savers. The whole staff were my heroes , but especially Ryan.

It’s a free rehab, but you will hear more complaining here than anywhere else in your life. Also for some reason they allow the same patient control who watches what on the TV, and often they have the mental capacity of a child (for example, Harry Potter movies are the norm.) Or Kevin Smith “comedies.” Also for some reason some people are allowed (if you consider it an advantage) to stay there for weeks. There will be people who will be there when you arrive, and they’re still there when you leave. Frankly I’m not sure how or why they get more time there than others, I’ve just always noticed it. I asked one guy why he was able to stay there for so long, he said he was “waiting for a bed to open up somewhere else.” But everyone knows there’s a shortage of beds at other places. Why do they let a select few wait it out at Hooper, meanwhile kick the rest back out to the streets? Favoritism (specifically from the counselors) is my guess. Unfortunately I’ve never really clicked with any of my counselors, who just see as another random client. Also be careful of the food. I would advise eating as less of it as possible. Last time I was there someone got COVID (they wouldn’t say who), so they kicked a bunch of us out because we had “contact” with them. Anyway I’m pretty sure I did get COVID. Well at least they gave me a free ride home (and unfortunately COVID too). All in all it’s a free detox. But like I said, the complaining is out of this world.

Best thing I ever did for myself. Make sure you get a doctors referral so your intake is quicker and secured.

if you lost your id you have the possibility of getting admitted if you are on oregon health plan because they can verify your identity through your insurance information and social
But how do I go get in contact with my fiance in the inpatient side. Is there a way I can possibly call direct instead of this game the operators play about can't won't tell even when there's ALREADY been a release of information done? My fiance went up there from here in Arizona and now I keep missing her calls and CANNOT FOR MY LIFE SIMPLY CALL HER BACK. This is redicuolous
Your chance's are good. I got in my first try and from what I remember they didn't even ask me about insurance.
You can bring stuff there, but most of it you'll have to put in a bag and store it in a locker until you get out... Although they do let you keep a few things like; writing untensils Quarters (for the phone) 3 books and/or notepads I'm not quite sure if you're able to use your own toiletries, but they do provide you with the basics (like shampoo/conditioner, soap, toothbrush/paste, comb, etc..) Other than that, I'm not sure exactly what else they allow you to keep with you...
No, they don't already have to be in withdrawal. It is goo to be there by 7:30 Monday through Friday mornings, every day until you get in. If you miss a day, you lose your place in line and you have to start over.
I stopped in to ask the same question. I was told by the woman at the front desk that YES, they do take couples in to detox. I am assuming the same is true for getting in to treatment afterwards but I've never heard anyone ever say that is a very good idea.
Can you talk to the person. Once there inside or leave a message for thyesem
yes but you will not see eachother at all and since neither of you can have your cellphone you will not be able to communicate at all. men and women only may catch a glimpse of eachother while they are getting medication dispensed to them and you arent allowed to have any contact.
no. you cannot leave at all unless escorted by staff to a hospital. if you do leave against medical advice there is a two week period you have to wait before they will admit you again.
They offer programs for after detox
No
Do you have a call back number for those phones??? Please, I'm begging you...
You control who gets to know that you are/were there. When you get in, you make out a list of people/drs/etc that they are able to give information to. I imagine after the fact you would have to fill out a release of information (ROI) for that dr/nurse/clinic to get any info about your stay. Your privacy is taken seriously here.
You can't get any information except from the patient themselves or the patient signs a information release form for you to get any sort of information about any patients or even if a specific person is admitted at all. It's actually a privacy right of all individuals seeking mental or physical health services, including drug abuse treatment. The facility is bound to the duty of protecting their patients privacy; they must get release of information form filled for billing insurance for services. It's that strict. You should be happy with that, because it means that the facility takes the rights, safety, and privacy of their patients seriously. The patient is the only one to make the decision on contact with any person out of the facility.
I hope you've gotten the help you need so badly. Most doctors, like 99%, won't detox anyone pregnant. They will advise maintenance medication. Methadone being the first choice for women in pregnancy but you can push for Subutex (Suboxone without Naloxone). My suggestion would be to do your homework and do a lot of research on your own as well as take advice from professional counselors, addiction specials, AND VISIT THE NICU.
Only if he put your name down as a contact that they can give information to.
Yes,BUT if they are full you may have to go the following day. First come first serve.
ROI= Release Of Information A form you sign for a professional to break thru HIPPA law to work with another professional to take care of you
yes. you must be positive for alcohol, benzos or opiates to detox.( unsure if meth or cocaine alone need detox) if there is nothing in your system there is no need to medically detox.if you are looking to quit your addiction but you are not pyschically dependent you should go to treatment NOT detox.
I don't know ,but you can contact them. See here. https://www.centralcityconcern.org/contact/ This one place ,is Google community.
No. They offer gum and patches tho
Yes they can call out, they have a payphone inside. I don't believe they allow visitors. You can also mail them (put Hooper's address on the envelope and the person's name on the envelope as well as the letter)
I'm not sure if you need ID or not... for some reason I don't think you do 🤔 but don't quote me on that. Other than that, you don't really 'need' anything.. they provide the basic necessities; bedding, clothing, toiletries, food/drink, etc... If you want to use the phone you'll need to bring quarters... (50¢ a call) And they do allow you to keep up to 3 books and/or notepads with you. As well as some writing Utensils (I believe)... Everything else that you have and they don't allow you to keep with you they will bag up and lock up. And they do keep record of everything they store for you while you're there.
Separately no contact
6: 45-7am
Nope
Not at all
No
I don't think they will turn you away, but you will have to go through the same process to get re-emitted. Go back as soon as you can your life is worth it
Yes
Yes, they usually do, but they are EXTREMELY lenient with it. They let me use my Clackamas County Jail ID before. They also told me last time I went that I was ok not having it since I had been there before. I don't know if this is an option but there are other places where you can set up an appointment yo come in and detox so you aren't showing up several mornings and not get accepted. I think the longest I had to wait was getting in on the 3rd day, which isn't bad BUT it's hard enough for us to get in ONCE for help let alone several days. Hooper is great but I know Cascadia and Providence take detox appointments and have better food. I'll actually be calling them today myself.
Yes
It never hurts to bring personal letters of recommendation from Dr/Nurses from releasing hospital....and it is extreamly helpful ifhe has a counselor or mentor or case manager to write a referral.this almost always speeds up the process.I've seen people coming there after 2nd and 3rd time still being refused and still in poor shape.their beds are very limited and it's hard to know when it's going to be your lucky day....BUT L KEEP COMING BACK!!!IT'S ALWAYS WORTH IT.
There's street parking that costs money so if your trying to get into hooper you wouldn't want to bring a car
