I would give 0 stars if possible. Got car repaired here after getting rear ended years back. Car was there for 3 months. During the repair, I did not receive updates, didn't get return calls, and they couldn't tell me what the status was. I began to wonder if they even still had my car in their possession. When I finally got my car back, it leaked where they had "repaired" it, which it had not done previously. The customer service is terrible. I highly recommend Artistic Auto Body. We have been to both body shops and would never use Leifs again. Artistic Auto Body has been a much better experience and the work and service is hands down much better quality.

Much of what I’ll be writing in regards to my experience is a common repeating theme with Leif’s Auto Collision Center, on this and on other review sites. I wished I read those reviews prior to taking our car to this place. I’m hoping by sharing my experience less people will have to go through similar nightmare. This is a very condensed version. 3rd time in a span of 18 years that I took our car to Leif’s. The experience and repair result were excellent the first time, then good on the second time and now it just plain horrid. Our car was at their shop for 7 weeks for a no-fault minor accident (backed into while parked) and it ended up looking worse than before the repair. The color on the front bumper is way off (because no tinting was done), separation line between unpainted and painted part is uneven and jagged in some areas, there are also visible overspray on non-painted parts. Communication was lacking unlike what’s stated on their commercial and when it happened, they are mostly vague and accompanied with rudeness. They ignored my repeated requests for tint and keep on pushing what they want to do (blend) instead. (Tint is adjusting the paint mixture to get to a closer match with the existing paint while blending is overlapping new paint onto adjacent panels so the gradual color change will to trick the eyes from seeing the difference between the new and existing paint). My guess blend is a more cost effective and requires less effort. Ben Trujillo spent a lot of time trying to convince me that blend is the only way to go. At one time he sent pages taken from a couple of documents that supposedly would provide solid reasoning to do blend but one of article actually states that blend should not be a consideration for the white paint (which is the color of our car) while the other one states that tint is also needed for better blend result. When I pointed this out, he told me that I read the wrong section, but there is no other section on the pages that he sent me. He never sends the correct section or talked about it anymore afterward though. Leif’s constantly projecting themselves onto Insurance companies. They incessantly claim that insurance is trying to cheap out and blame insurance for their shoddy work. They also show a weird obsession of wanting to punish insurance by making them to pay for re-repair. This is displayed on their commercial as well as what their employees say. They will manipulate you to fight with the insurance (which I fell for and did for over a month). When I rejected the repair on my car the first time Ben told me that the repair is the way it is because that is what was paid by the insurance. I was not aware that they have different levels for pre-loss repair. From my experience they don’t do any of the fighting or stand up to insurance company, I did all of the fighting being constantly misled by them. They require debit card or cash payment from you, credit card is accepted with 2% charge and won’t take check from insurance company. Which means you will have to get the insurance to pay you and you to pay them. Nothing in their ads is really what they stand for. Holding the insurance accountable, fixing your car right the first time, fighting for you and pre-loss repair are just empty buzz words to lure you in.

If I could give 0 stars, I would. I handed my car and key over on July 31st after an accident. They told me repairs would be done on Sept. 22nd. A couple days after the 22nd, they emailed me to inform me that multiple parts were on backorder and that there was now no ETA. From then on, I had to email them 90% of the time to ask for updates on what parts they were waiting on, new ETA, etc. There was pretty much zero communication from Leifs for the next 4 ish months. I did not get my car back until Jan. 18th, after multiple calls and emails trying to get answers and not receiving anything. They said that they would detail my car before it was returned to me. This wasn’t the biggest deal for me, but that was a lie. They were scuff marks on the interior of the doors, there was random debris that was not from me in the trunk of my car. A couple days after I got my car back, I discovered that my horn didn’t work. I called Leifs, and they told me that it was the dealerships fault, as they had to send my car to a dealership to do the wiring install. They would not tell me which dealership they sent it to, so even if it was the dealership’s responsibility, I had no way of resolving this. I took my car to my local dealership. They informed me that my car did not have any horn, bracket, or bolt. It was completely removed. I don’t care if the dealership did it. In my eyes, Leifs was in charge of the repair and should have noticed that there was no horn in my car, or should have been helpful in resolving the issue and contacted the dealership. I called again and demanded that they resolve this. They agreed to order and install the parts, but still did not accept responsibility. Overall, this was the worst experience in my life, in every way. It was not worth the hassle, the stress, the money. If I could have picked my car up and towed it to another repair shop, I would have. I was without my car for six months, when repairs should have taken 2 months. There was no communication, there were a million excuses about what was taking so long, and Leifs refused to take responsibility for any of it. A poor excuse for a business.

I had my car taken to Leifs for a second opinion after Caliber Collision told me that my car was repairable and I knew in my gut that it was totaled. Leifs went and picked up my car from Caliber and had the car totaled out within a few days. It just goes to show that it’s worth getting a second opinion on your car if you feel that someone else is lying to you just to make a buck despite being ethical. Thanks again Ben & Danielle 😉

Questions & Answers

I've looked at the complaints against your company, they look like leftist Political hit job, why do these people make bad reviews? Are or were they ever actually one of your customers?

Bill, I was an actual customer and not even close to a leftist. There is a reason why people give bad reviews. The company did something that was not good customer service.

Does Leif's block all emails and communication from all of their clients or just me?

This is part of their scam. They communicate with the insurance company to get your car and a paycheck. Once they feel they have done their job they play hard ball and then start sending emails to the insurance domain instead of the adjuster. They also don't respond back. You now have to do all the work. All the work they said they would do! You officially got punked by leifs.

I took my car here 5 months ago. They did such a bad job I had to take it to the dealership to have it done professionally. Someone just side swiped me again. Did this company get better since then?

I personally would not recommend this company. This is the worst business I've ever had to deal with.

Out back behind the fence so you can't take your vehicle to a better body shop that doesn't have an F rating with the Better Business Bureau.

A word of warning. I've used Leif's three times over 15 years. They do good work. They do things right. But they battle so hard with insurance companies that sometimes customers get caught in the cross fire. I know this from recent experience.

Hi.A friend dinged her 2018 Kia. She was afraid of reporting it to her insurance company. How can she get it repaired since the incident was about a year ago? She bought it new and it has Gieco insurance.

You can have the car repaired at any auto body repair shop. Just pay for the repair yourself. If the dent did not break the paint a dent removal service will work great and cheap

Do you guys do business with Geico insurance company,

Kristine Mathews | Aug 17, 2020
Messy | Nov 20, 2021

I wouldn't personally take my car here if you have Geico. Leifs told me that they are in litigation with each other and they will not speak to each other directly. Which makes getting repairs or anything done nearly impossible.
