Nice place, very clean and you javelin the option of 1st come 1st serve from 1 to 20 camp site. 25$ the day and 2 parking spots. Only thing that IL make it magical is a shower. Otherwise it is lovely, safe and quiet

Went on a spur of the moment solo camping trip on a Monday and managed to snag one of the last free-for-all spots. They have great prices, great location, and it was such a peaceful night.

Good campground overall. Site 24 was a great, shaded site for our trailer except for close proximity to vault toilets made for consistent odor into the site - it is what it is. Really cool hiking trail to beautiful view. Camp host loaned us jumper cables for dead battery on our truck! Site was clean and ready upon arrival. Vault toilets very clean. Noise level was quiet, was afraid we were too loud! Kids loved climbing and playing around the boulders behind site 24. Had a young moose (cow) walk right behind our site, couldn’t believe how close she was! Water was off during our stay, but was aware before we arrived. Close location to Black Hawk is cool, but not much in the way of restaurants that we found, mainly the casinos. Not sure you could get a massive trailer in the sites, but we’re a few decent sized rigs. It’s a good campground. Our experience that site 24 was great for us despite the random toilet odors. Were there early July, got warm during day for sure, but cooled off quite a bit at night.

Beautiful little campsite full of silver aspen and wildflowers. We stayed at Site 15 and loved it. I'd recommend anything from 12-16 for a combination of relative privacy and mountain views--the sites are set diagonally from the road, on slope, so each is quite far from its neighbors compared to other large campgrounds. Water was on when we there, bathrooms were nice for vault toilets, and camp host had firewood with a lockbox for cash payment ($6/bundle). Take the short scramble up to the viewpoint (near site 20) for a pretty vista view. Chilly at night, even in mid July. Nederland is your closest best for non-casino restaurants, shops, etc. The only downside was the highway noise, inescapable anywhere on the campgrounds but especially awful at the sites that are next to the highway. I would NOT recommend these--they look directly over the highway and have little privacy.

I didn't see any snakes. It is bear country, but the sites all have bear boxes, and there are bear proof dumpsters throughout the campground. Mostly we saw chipmunks and hummingbirds.
Yes
No, not in campground. There is a playground on site and riding would be a hazard for little kids playing
I've camped there twice and had no issues
Some sites are long enough, but the corners will require careful driving.
There is a state park that's less than 5 miles away with 2 lakes great for fishing. Golden gate canyon State Park
Yes, it's a campground. Beautiful campsites :)
