A lovely restaurant with great food. Don't miss the fried chicken, the dumplings (amazing depth of flavour) and the chickpea curd (a revelation!)

I really wanted to like this place. It seemed cute and I appreciated our server explaining the whole mouth numbing peppercorn deal. However the food was disgustingly salty, I've been all over the world and eaten all kinds of food and this was the saltiest food I've ever had. We got the Mapo tofu and dry fried chicken and some sides. The Chinese greens and cucumber salad were delicious and I was looking forward to a delicious meal. Unfortunately the tofu and chicken dish were so salty they were completely inedible. Literally the saltiest food I've ever eaten in my entire life. After a few bites I couldn't stomach any more and got a huge headache from all the sodium. Profoundly disappointed in this place. I really wanted to like this but I just couldn't get more than a few bites down 👎👎👎

Beautiful space with lovely servers. The food all sounds yummy on the menu, it looks gorgeous on the table and the first bites are heaven! Then your teeth get hold of a szechuan peppercorn and the warm and intense (and temporary) numbing quality of this legendary spice takes hold. And the szechuan pepper was not in just one dish, I think it was in every single dish we ordered! We would have gobbled everything up in minutes if we weren't slowed with the necessary recovery of our taste buds. If we ate too much of the peppercorn all of a sudden everything read as wildly salty and we had to pause. The turmeric ginger beverage is the perfect and most delicious way to calm the sensations. The fabulous cucumber dish helped too. We did 4 out of 5 stars for spice level and my thought is that this wasn't a scale for heat but for the intensity of the szechuan. I suggest dialing it down and ordering a few dishes without the pepper and an extra bowl of rice. Don't skip the mapu tofu! I can't wait to come back and try more!

I really wanted to love this place. It’s so hard to find gluten-friendly Chinese. Drinks were great. A few of the dishes were very good, but others were unimpressive. Fried chicken was the standout. Fried rice was flavorless. By “gluten-friendly” they clearly just omit soy sauce rather than replace it with something like Tamari. Too bad. I’ll probably be back, but I won’t be in any particular hurry.

Spice varies, you can control most dishes. Good set of interesting veggie options...
