I can't say enough good things about Shelly Lipkin's film acting class. His classes take you through a number of different scenarios that film actors experience, from working on a monologue to scene study with another actor to auditioning and call backs and much more. I've taken this class twice and I'm impressed with how Shelly works with both experienced actors and novices, meeting each actor wherever they might personally be on their journey to improve their acting skills. I've taken many acting classes, both for film and theater, over many years and I can honestly say that Shelly's class is by far my favorite. He concentrates on honest interactions between actors and encourages his students to try different things in an atmosphere that is supportive. Whether or not you feel you have succeeded or failed in any of the exercises, the emphasis is on learning and growing as an actor. Shelly gives you the tools to break down a scene and really drives home the importance of preparation. I'm so happy with the progress I've made and look forward to attending more classes in the future.

Since I came to Shelly for acting lessons I have landed an agent, a principal roll in a film, and have become a SAG-AFTRA Member: Shelly Lipkin is a top tier acting coach. I've taken both private lessons and classroom courses from Shelly for the past two years and it has absolutely been worth it. Shelly has been in the business a long time and has made a career of acting in L.A. and continues to do so here in Portland; therefore, Shelly has the real world experience to inform all of his teaching. Shelly is a compassionate and intelligent teacher who has the special ability to zero in on exactly what your strengths and weakness are as an actor. Shelly's teaching style is practical and results driven; he does not delve deeply into the various philosophies of acting, but rather, focuses on getting you comfortable in front of the camera and fully embracing your strengths as the unique person you are. As you advance in his course work, Shelly will push you and challenge you to grow. I could not have achieved what I have as an actor thus far without Shelly Lipkin's coaching and mentorship. I highly recommend, Shelly Lipkin, for any aspiring or seasoned actor.

With practically no acting experience under my belt, I was incredibly nervous to take Shelly’s class. However, these concerns immediately vanished on that first day. Shelly fosters an inclusive environment that caters to all skill levels. He is patient, wise, talented and immensely entertaining. His classes focus on progressive growth, with each session building upon the previous. Shelly provides individualized feedback and tangible goals, making it easy to hone in on performance improvement. I recommend Shelly’s classes whole heartedly. Not only did he help me grow as an actor, but also a person. You won’t be disappointed.

I have taken classes on and off with Shelly Lipkin for almost 10 years now and absolutely love his teaching style. Whether you are brand new to acting or have been in the business for years he is the one to see. He will always offer positive feedback while also pointing out what to work on. He films you in class which I love because then you get to analyze and see what worked and what didn't. He also knows the business like no other, he does theatre/film/tv. Overall I can't say enough about how amazing he is!!!!!!!
