Firstly, it's very suspicious all these new 5* review being submitted by accounts that are BRAND NEW and that only have ONE review on record... this. Second, if there's never a call back given, then stop lying to people that you'll call them back. All agents, how many?! Get more! No one available ever.

GIC’s new online portal has made it easier to review my benefits and make necessary changes.

Questions & Answers

I would like to know if i can get a health insurance plan that covers me in Florida for winters and Boston for summers?I travel back and forth now but want to see if there is a better way now that it is open enrolement?

I live in Florida and have the indemnity plan.

GIC is terrible. Why are we forced to have them? Customer service is horrible. Reps lie to you then lie again to cover themselves once they screw you. How do you bill a month in advance but yet someone is half a month behind? How do terminate & not n

GIC changing in July?

They are eliminating the Fallon, Tufts, and Harvard Pilgrim non medicare plans. Under Medicare, they are eliminating the Fallon, Tufts, Health New England, and Harvard Medicare plans. If you have any of those plans, you will have to change during the Annual Enrollment.

I am in need of hearing aids, will give help?

My husband was not given any help. GIC did cover hearing tests but that is all.

Anyone try to get on the unicare website? Internal server error!! Great timing! All the reviews on this company are negative. No other choice if retired living away from New England. Thanks alot!

Yes. I have been trying to get on the website for 2 days. Keep getting 500 internal server error message

I read about changes in insurance come July. I have Harvard Pilgrim; how is this going to affect me. I am a retiree.

Paul Galvin | Sep 23, 2018
Ajay Monteiro | Sep 23, 2018

Harvard Pilgrim will be eliminated effective July 1, 2018. If you have the Harvard Medicare plan, Unicare is the most comparable. They are both Indemnity plans which allow you coverage nationwide. If you are enrolled in the Harvard Independence, you will have the option of Unicare Basic, Unicare PLUS, Unicare Community Choice, Health New England, or Neighborhood Health Plan. Call the GIC for assistance narrowing down your options.

I was over billed. I called , they said the would send me a check ...it's been 3 weeks now ..what should I do ...?

Refunds have to be calculated and approved. The refund checks go out once a month. If it's been over the time frame, I would encourage you call the GIC and ask to speak to the Supervisor of the unit. It will get it moved quicker.

Not eligible for free part A

If you are a State retiree and are not eligible for free Part A? You are not required to enroll in Medicare. GIC allows you to stay on your regular non-medicare plan as long as you send proof from Social Security that you are not eligible at this time. You may also qualify through a spouse or former spouse as long as they are over age 62 and have 40 quarters.
