Such a beautiful weekend wetland totally hidden between Portland international Raceway and the shipping docks in the industrial area of North Portland. Great place to watch migrating birds, spot small critters like beavers, rabbits, frogs and a bunch of others. Bring a kayak and it opens up the possibilities 100x. The area is huge and so unexpected in it's beauty. I love it.

Beautiful spot. Great for kids/strollers. Totally paved. But be careful on overcast days the path is slippery and watch your feet cuz the cute creatures are everywhere.

The path and wildlife are amazing but please take care. At midday yesterday my car window was smashed , vehicle searched and everything (even hidden purse) was taken.

Great place to kayak or get outside for a nice walk through the wetlands. Clean, mostly quiet and full of beautiful birds and small mammals. Went early May 2019 and saw otters, eagles, cranes, herons, snakes, dragonflies and fish.

From their website, "Typically, dogs and other pets are not allowed at Metro parks and natural areas to protect sensitive habitats. Metro is making an exception by allowing pets on the Marine Drive Trail at Smith and Bybee Wetlands Natural Area because it is a designated regional trail. Pets must be on-leash at all times, and are not allowed anywhere else at Smith and Bybee."

Water level is controlled. High in winter rains to kill invasive plants, dropping through summer so by mid August extensive mudflats and tidal influence.

I live close to this park and have found it very relaxing and safe until about 3weeks ago. There appears to be an influx of people leaving their cars and run down motor homes during the day. Some are from a problem homeless camp along the Columbia.

Yes there is a path ....but it doesn't go all the way around.... If you take the path across from the park/picnic area towards the south you will be headed towards Kenton....where the path greets the public streets.
