Camping is always a good idea! No water where we camped, though, due to the drought. Luckily, a stream was nearby. The hikes are amazing, even more, the views! Coming back for more, for sure.

Snow-capped mountains popped in and out of view as we hiked along the trails near Buck Rock and the Meadows. The sights and smells of lush fir trees had such a calming effect on us. My partner couldn't believe how beautiful and blue the sky looked out here in the Sierras. We stopped by in early April, before many of the side roads were opened, and thoroughly enjoyed hiking with our dog out and around the forest. I would definitely recommend visiting Sequoia National Forest, it's an amazing place.

Great for Hiking, Snow Trips, camping and more. The drive is amazing and can't go wrong with all the beautiful views and wild life. Great for family days, friend days or with that special someone.

Most of the areas I went to were pet friendly. I would recommend calling the Rangers office to make sure your intended area will be
Just outside of the park you can camp in the national forest at any of the pull off spots along the road. It's free too
Google R-Ranch in the Sequoias. I bought an ownership share several years ago and I go up 5-6 times a year. They have about 80+ cabins and you can stay up to two weeks in them. Check it out. R-Ranch is located in the Sequoias, about 30 minutes from Kernville.
You can do both! It's what it's there for! 😃 Need to make sure you get a permit for fishing. And camp sites usually have a drop box for the night charge.
You can camp up to 28 days in the same park if you have a access pass given to buzz Rangers office
There were a few people parked at 100 giants trail. So I'd say yes, but there was a little snow when I went a few days ago.
In some parts there are
Well it is open.. But if you do not have the national park pass then you will likely need to pay to enter. There are certain days of the year where there is no fee though.
Yes you can absolutley climb. You cannot use bolts or anything permanent. It is featured in the Visitors Guide for the area this year. To find out the best places to go, the Mountain Project app is extremely helpful. There is a new book out, but I'm not sure where to get it. My bf connected with the author recently. I'm not sure why the two other people think it isnt allowed. It is a popular place to climb for people who climb over 5.10. I climb at a 5.9, so not too much available here for me.
Not sure but the Forest department would know
I would recommend 10 mile creek on the Hume lake turn off of Generals Highway. Or Big Meadows.
I did see some camping spots in camp Nelson. I am guessing yes.
The Ferguson fite is a long way away. It should be fine but the air quality may be effected by the fire. Ciuld be busier than usual because Yosemite is closed and they are encouraging more people to go to Sequoia and Kings canyon
Of course, there are places that can be rented and others do not and they spend the night or the days that they like to stay, some go in groups of some organization, or single families that are going to rest from the technology.
It is temporarily closed due to fires. The park website should have updated info on when they would reopen.
Its 35 per vehicle good for 7 days.....romantic if you spend the night 🌙 due to sky looks awesome...take blankets temperature falls drastically
Yes it's but some sites are closed. And also the road from 180 is being worked on so come in through the other side and enjoy your self and the drive
You have to reserve the space in advance. I think that by this date there is no space but you could stay close to a hotel or other areas.
Some campgrounds check the usfs website for specific campgrounds
Its now Open..im was there last saturday in trial of 100 giants...
I've seen people there solo, so yes it's okay to explore on your own. But always more enjoyable to share the experience with a friend.
Bears, yes. I've only seen coyotes in the valley. Never seen a wolverine
There are free camp sites and pay sites. I have only camped at the free campgrounds.
Absolutely, my family love the "Headquarter Campground". Just north of Kernville. Open and located on the Kern River. Perfect experience.
depending on the weather in winter 9 to 4pm or 10 to 3pm
I rent a cabin for 2nights and 3 days for 5 people for '$ 500.00
Yes, there is a lot places for parking such vehicles
The road is open every day, but it may be closed due to a rock or snow fall etc. Please see the Google Maps navigator, it displays availability
Just make sure that you're not on private property since there are property owners there and they carry, as well as have a range on their property for practicing.
I didn't see any parks on my visit there. Is camp sites where we stayed. I would recommend to go their website.
No they have plenty of other options for showers.
Yes up river from Kernville
Yes there is plenty of room that pets can still play with you plus plenty of room for the wife and kids
Fishing is allowed almost everywhere on national Forest property, just make sure you have your California fishing license with you. Any local bait shop or ranger station can tell you about specific local restrictions. Google translated version, sorry my Spanish is not very good: Fishing is allowed almost everywhere on National Forest properties, just make sure you have your California fishing license with you. Any local bait shop or ranger station can inform you about specific local restrictions.
If you take the road towards Morro Rock in the Sequoia National Park there is a fallen tree you can drive through.
They were open last weekene..my dad says they are open today as well
Yes
Not because of the closure of government they have closed it
The park it's closed due the current government shutdown
If you're going above Porterville, there was snow quite a ways above Camp Nelson.
Deveria but take a while to watch the news that the national parks are closed by the closure of government 🤔 in Beckenridge I went last week and it is beautiful with a lot of snow
The Park is open all year long... However the roads may be closed due to inclement weather
Thanks a lot that's a huge help
There are routes not accesible in Winter. You have to check online.
There are several pay locations that have spots for tent's and RV's If you have a pick up there are areas with spots for both and have horse corrals. In the Blace rock area there are even free camp sites. Also there are many backpacking trails where you can set up camp for free. Just be kind and please keep it clean. We always bring out more trash then we pack in.
So far so good. Not in any danger at the moment. But air quality from the northern and southern fires are converging, making the air quality unhealthy for individuals with existing health problems.
National park is vast.....i found camping without obtaining forest pass, and enjoyed my weekend. It's alwYs smart to get adventure pass, but is possible to still find the untouched spots. .....no I do on the crystal caves sorry.
It has a lot more than forest and desert it has wetlands and riparian rainforest as well... It has the most diverse group of environment clashing into each other in CA
There is a very nice and clean motel callled " Paradise Cove" it cost around $100.00 a night for a regular room and is located near Lake Isabella which is about a 1 hour drive to the " Trail of 100 Giants ".
The best time of year, would be Jan to May less crowds but the Canyon is closed during that time should be open around May or June depending on weather
All depends on how much you want to see. More then a day for sure.
Its free, but there is a parking fee in some places
Hello Armando, there are hotels before you go up the Mountain, but if you get up there you'll have a choice of a campsite or a Cabin you can rent, kinda like a hotel, they are nice inside. I used to work up there in the kitchen when I was around 18 years old, it was so much fun.
Yes... Although snow chains are required. 25$ per car
My boyfriend rented RB & B and among the group we brought food.
