I stayed in IP from December 2021 to May 2022. I chose IP because they were the few places that offered a furnished apartment. The day I arrived I was disappointed to find the apartment dirty (stained floors, smelled like smoke, dirty sink and toilet). I asked the front office about the smoke smell and they said they couldn’t smell anything. I later found out that the smell/smoke was coming from my neighbors (weed smokers) and it was coming through the vents. I eventually had to close my vents because it was overbearing. The monthly furniture expense is too much in my opinion, especially for the condition the furniture was in (torn couch and ottoman, with holes). The mattress is super thin and uncomfortable, you feel every spring in it when laying on it. After one week I took my mattress out of storage. There is a door to the balcony that has no curtain provided so you have to purchase your own or hang something else. I used a flag. I submitted a few maintenance orders (shower not draining and leaking sink). Both orders were submitted online through the portal. I was never told or notified when someone was coming to make the repairs, I would only find out when I would come home and see the repairs and they sent an email saying the repairs were fixed. I will end on a good note and say that I really enjoyed living super close to post. It’s literally across the street from the Shop Road Gate. The rent is affordable and reasonable (except the furniture fee). They have storage rooms and garbages available. Pet friendly.

Just moved in today and I don't like it. It is dirty and the walls got stains. I think this was a smoking unit bcuz of the walls. The balcony is not clean and got dirt all up the walls. I was very upset with my experience here. I had high hopes that these apartments were good due to them being military however I'm shocked. The lady in the office didn't let me move in until 5:00 and they closed at 5:30 so now I can't contact anyone until the am. These are not worth the money they are asking. So disappointed ☹️

My experience with staff here at Independence Place, Prince George VA has been outstanding. Friendly /professional staff and they go out of their way to provide the best customer service. I would also like to commend the Maintenance staff who immediately responded and handled two tickets I put in the evening before and it resolved by noon the next day. Kudos to the Independence Team!
