These people are amazing. We adopted a bonded pair of cats from The Pixie Project and they were incredibly helpful and kind. They said to contact them for any reason concerning the cats which one could assume is just something people say. But when one of our kitties got a little sick and we couldn't get a vet appointment for 2 weeks we called The Pixie Project for guidance. They were able to get us the meds we needed the same day. That sort of after care is rare and very much appreciated by us and our two little kitties. I am so happy we decided to work with them when it came to our pet adoption.

I was willing to adopt a 13-yr-old dog. I am experienced with senior dogs with medical conditions and currently have a special needs dog. Things were progressing fine, until I made the mistake in mentioning that I thought the price was a bit high for a senior dog and that the price should be lower then that of a younger dog. That was a show-stopper for them and I was told we were an unsuitable match. So sad I could have given this dog a good home. He is still available and I hope he finds a great home with someone who can afford him. I realize they put a lot of money into their animals, but I think it is important they get to families who can give them a future in their senior years.

A few friends of mine were dog-sitting a good pup that turned out to have behavioral issues with other pets and children, upon trying to return the pup to the owners after the duration of dog sitting, the owners went ghost and fell off the face of the earth. The owners had a euthanasia appointment (due to behavior) at the Pixie Project, after spending time alone with the dog we realized that she has way too good of a heart to be put down, regardless of the previous attacks she has made. She has the potential to be trained if in the proper placement. While in the parking lot of the Euth appointment, (which got pushed back 2 hours after we were already there) we decided to not go through with the appointment they had because we knew in our hearts the dog could be great if in the right home. When calling from the parking lot to cancel the appointment, we were told by Amy that we are cancelling the appointment for our “own mental clarity.” we were called “selfish” for letting the dog live. We cancelled the appointment after we found a home with a behavioral therapist for dogs with aggression and let Amy know that it was good news. Amy stated that “It’s actually horrible news, no one can save this dog besides us putting it down.”. I have attached update photos in the order they were received, Willow is now thriving. She has only been sweet in this home. I have also provided screenshots of updates I have received on her behavior. I will never support Pixie Project or anything to do with them again. Unless you have a small boutique style dog, they will be no help to you. Overall, I am happy with what took place for Willow’s life. But I am furious and disappointed at Pixie Project and Amy particularly for lack of humanity and morals.

I must thank the Pixie project for giving me the opportunity to be the father of this beautiful creature. She has been in our home for two months and since we adopted her, she has become an important member of our family. We love her so much

There’s an application process on the website, standard requirements like pictures of your home, how long you’ve lived there, etc. I believe you also need to apply for a specific dog on their site. I’d reach out to them though as they facilitate adoptions through dogs not in their system as well.

What do you do when your a volenteer.

Hi there! There is an age limit of 16 years or older to volunteer for insurance and liability reasons. The Pixie Project is run by a team of staff but also relies on volunteers to help with various aspects of the program. You can learn much more about the program and how to sign up by visiting www.pixieproject.org/volunteer. Thank you!

The Pixie Project is a non-profit animal adoption center and rescue. We offer a variety of services to the public including but not limited to: pet adoption services, pet owner education and support and low cost and free spay and neuter and veterinary services for homeless and low-income pet owners.

Do you neuter bunnies for low cost? I don’t make very much money and money is tight, but my little guys is starting to show signs of aggression.

Jada G | Aug 17, 2019

They neuter animals that have been taken in as rescues. Not sure they would neuter a loved pet? Fitzsimmons suggestions about calling is best, they are wonderful & can point you in the right direction.
