Marguerite is incredibly knowledgeable, professional, and fun! She helped match my partner and I with the perfect real estate agent to help us buy our first home in Tacoma and we couldn't be happier. As first time home buyers in a crazy market, Marguerite's expertise and guidance was essential to our success. Thank you, Marguerite!

When my husband and I wanted to buy a home in Seattle during an extremely competitive housing market, we asked Marguerite for a recommendation for a real estate agent. We shared a bit with her about what type of home and neighborhood we wanted, and she was able to introduce us to our incredible real estate agent. We absolutely loved our realtor and not only did we click personally, but our agent was able to write us the winning offer in a multiple offer situation (and it was on the first home we offered on no less. We were very happy!). We ended up using this same realtor that Marguerite recommended to us to sell our condo in Capitol Hill in November 2020 (yeahhh, in the midst of a pandemic and an election...). It had multiple offers and sold in just 72 hours for above our asking price. It's a real challenge to sell condos in Seattle right now, and we were so thrilled with how ours did. We feel so fortunate that we reached out to Marguerite for a real estate recommendation. Marguerite does not mess around when it comes to recommending high quality real estate professionals—she really does know the best agents!

When I moved to Tacoma I found Marguerite's website, movetotacoma.com to be an invaluable resource as I was deciding which neighborhood was right for me, but I got a lot more than I was expecting. movetotacoma.com is more than just a few blog entries about Tacoma neighborhoods. Marguerite has explored the contours of the city's history, politics, and culture and created tons of incredible podcasts in order to bring her wealth of knowledge to anyone curious about Tacoma. Clearly, Marguerite is more than just a real estate agent. She's a maven of all things Tacoma. The good, the bad, and the ugly--she seems to know it all. When I hear a friend expressing interest in moving to Tacoma, I always recommend Marguerite as Tacoma's realtor par excellence.

Marguerite was SO GREAT about advising about the different parts of Tacoma that we had never even considered. She referred us to the right agent and landed in the perfect neighborhood for our family. She is truly the ultimate real estate match maker. In fact, I am often writing her website and contact info on post-its and napkins to hand out to others. When a colleague from another state mentioned he wanted to move to Tacoma, I gave him Marguerite's contact info and she helped him learn more about Tacoma and find the perfect agent for him and his wife.

Questions & Answers

How do I find the best neighborhood for my family? I have young children and am especially interested in the schools.

Great question, this one is super common. It’s a complicated question for real estate agents to answer, and it’s a hot button issue for homebuyers and real estate agents alike. While many people head to online resources to research local schools, I have another tactic. In our interview on Tacoma Public Schools’ “School Insider,” I talk about my “trick” for finding the right Tacoma school for your child- check it out here: https://movetotacoma.com/how-do-you-find-the-right-school-in-tacoma-marguerite-makes-an-appearance-on-school-insider-2/

I have a client interested in Tacoma. Which neighborhoods host Pride and/or have pride events?

Tacoma Pride has been in a few spots over the years, most recently in Downtown Tacoma on Pacific Avenue between South 7th and South 9th. The local gay bars host their own mini block parties (21+) the day of Pride with DJ's and live performances that go into the night. Those are located in the St Helens Area between 6th Ave and 9th on St Helens. If your clients are wanting to live in neighborhoods that are close proximity to these events and would like condo or townhouse living I'd check out our neighborhood guides to Downtown Tacoma, Hillside/McCarver, St Helens, and Stadium District Neighborhoods. If your clients are looking for single family homes I'd check out the neighborhood guides to Stadium District, 6th Ave, Hilltop, North Slope Historic District, and Lincoln. Some friends of mine believe they have been priced out of Tacoma. In what neighborhoods would you suggest they search in the 300k-350k range?

You can absolutely still buy a home in and around Tacoma for 300-350k. Depending on how much house your friends need they should ABSOLUTELY be able to find a place. I would suggest looking in South Tacoma, the South End, and the East Side to start. Since the median home price in Tacoma (as of my writing this) is about 398,000 your friends are going to be looking in the "bargain" end of the available homes. They will be competing with other folks looking for a deal. The key is having their financing all sorted out and a great real estate agent selected to help them compete against other offers and find great properties. For more info on neighborhoods in Tacoma you can share the Tacoma Neighborhood Guide with them so they can compare and find something that is a good fit for them. I hope they stay! http://www.movetotacoma.com/explore-neighborhoods/
